Steak Sauce

1/2 cup Orange Juice
1/2 cup Raisins
1/4 cup Soy Sauce
1/4 cup White Vinegar
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon grated Orange Peel
2 tablespoons Ketchup
2 tablespoons Chili Sauce

Bring to a boil for 2 minutes stirring.

Remove from heat. Allow to cool to lukewarm.

Teriyaki Sauce


2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup sugar
1 garlic clove, minced
2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger
1 cup water

In a small saucepan, stir together cornstarch, soy sauce, sugar, garlic and ginger. Cook over medium heat, stirring, until thickened.
Makes about 2 1/2 cups.

Magic Shell


1 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/2 tsp vanilla

Melt chips and butter together (microwave or stovetop on low). When melted, add oil. Add vanilla last of all.

Pour over ice cream and it will harden.

Store in refrigerator and hold under warm water to melt or microwave for a short while.

Pioneer Mom's note: When I make ice cream, I often make this sauce to go with it. It is such a great addition to vanilla ice cream. If you are worried about the fattening effect it will have on you, don't worry! It has coconut oil, which has been proven to reduce weight. 

Enchilada Sauce

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
2 cups water
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Heat oil in large 2-quart saucepan; stir in flour and chili powder; cook for 1 minute.
Add remaining ingredients bring to a boil and simmer for about 10 minutes.
Makes 3 cups of sauce.

Alfredo Sauce

1/2 cup butter 
2/3 cup heavy cream
1 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon salt
dash of pepper

Cook noodles or fettuccine according to package directions. Heat butter and cream in saucepan until butter is melted. Remove from heat. Add 1 cup Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper; stir until sauce is blended and fairly smooth. Add to drained noodles and toss until they are well coated. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
