1/2 teaspoon unflavored gelatin
1 cup hot water
1 Tblsp. alcohol
Dissolve gelatin in 1 Tblsp cold water. Add hot water, and then alcohol. Keep refrigerated and use as you would a purchased gel. You can also make a liquid by using 1/4 teaspoon gelatin and pour the liquid into a spray bottle.
Pioneer Mom's notes: I used to use hair spray years ago, and I still remember the strong unhealthy smell associated with it. This is not only much, much cheaper than storebought, but gives you the peace of mind that there are no chemicals in it. It makes my hair shiny just like storebought gel does. I rarely use it as a gel, but as a gel spray. So maybe I should call it, Hair Gel Spray...
